AR-15 Magazines

I’ve checked with distributors and at your web site and the only versions I see of your SS AR mags are with CS springs. Is there an option to order them with SS springs?? I know you guys are slammed right now and don’t expect an immediate response but I’d sure like to add to my AR-15 Magazines "collection" if I can get "maintenance free" mags (SS bodies and SS springs). Thanks for providing the products and services that you do.

Eotech

Quote direct from the EOTech website’s product description of the 517:

"Additionally, a portion of the front base has been raised to allow the sight to fit over standard hand guards found on many M-4 or M-16 style weapons"

From the looks of it, it might not slide all the way up to your forward-most slot, but the fact that the buttons are on the side of the unit will allow you to butt the magnifier mount right up to the back of the sight, which may create enough room. If all else fails, I’d buy everything from a vendor with a good return policy so you’re not stuck with something if it doesn’t work.

Glock 17 magazines

MO ,Just more complexity to potentialy cause problems, loose pins etc.

Besides, how could Glock 17 magazines do this without closing off the backstrap channel?Everyone knows that must remain open in order for a Glock to function properly!

If glock wants to follow the lead of other manufacturers, whose current designs more than likely will not even be on the market in ten years ,I think it would be a mistake!

If you cannot adjust to the Glock 17 magazine ergos the way they are ,you have lots of other choices.

Trijicon

At 3X30, the magnification is supreme for Trijicon Minute of Man shooting and my eyes adjust quickly using the BAC. The glass is perfect as you’d expect from Trijicon. For testing I used a different lower than pictured…one with a Geissele trigger so right off my 3 shot groups were 1.5MOA using 62gr SS109. This gun shoots 1/2 MOA easy so I just need to spend more than 1 box of ammo and practice some.

kpel308,

Got any salt?

The Fobus HK1 for my USPc .45 doesn’t hold the gun securely. Every other Fobus I’ve used held the gun positively against negative G; IOW, if you fell on your back, etc, the gun would stay put. A determined tug was necessary to release it.

Not this one; you can now ease the gun out with two fingers on the butt. Obviously, that’s a no-go. The first few days it was fine; perhaps something is wrong with it, after a couple of hundred presentations. Oh, well…

I ordered a Kramer this afternoon.

BTW, I’ve been toting for 28 years; 226 days till retirement. I’ve come full circle: from using "common" Leather Holsters as a rookie, to discovering custom stuff, then the Fobus, and now back to custom.

And THAT Pistol Magazine about the best summation of the situation I’ve ever read. Good post, Barry.

I realize I’m digging up a corpse that is better left buried, but all the "experts" on these boards just wear me out at times. I’ve carried a G19 in a Fobus GL2 professionally for over seven years. I’ve snagged it on door cowboy holster, car doors, etc., numerous times; it is still quite serviceable, thank you.

Uncle Mikes Holsters

Recently I have taken the time to purchase all Galco carry pieces for my Colt 1911 carry gun Holsters and also more leather Holster for the High Power….let me tell you, there is a WORLD of difference between Fobus/Uncle Mikes type stuff and Galco/Mitch Rosen/SafariLand type stuff.

You absolutely cannot afford to buy cheap leather/kydex for a carry piece any more than you can afford to put a Simmons scope and 12 dollar weaver mounts on a Steyr PSG….and expect decent results anyhow.

I’ve had 2 and love them. I had one for my Sigma and it didn’t hold it well but it did hold it. My Uncle Mikes Holsters Glock 22 locks into mine and will stay in through just about cowboy holster. Only problem with them is that they can be two hard to get off my Tactical holster. Not really that big of a deal.

I got news, don’t like cheap stuff, fine, don’t buy it. That Video is BS, because those two are obviously trying to break that holster. I suspect I could do somehting similar with most any brand of paddle concealment holster out there. Paddle holsters are about convenience, not ultimate security, if you want 100% security, buy an UM pro-3. Personally, I own a Fobus for almost every pistol holster I own, and just placed an order for 3 more. I have been Using Fobus since they came out, weekley, for IPSC and 3gun competitions, and have abused the heck out of them with ZERO problems. About a year ago, at a 3gun match, I fell during a stage. I was wearing a Fobus C21 1911 paddle Uncle Mikes Holster. I fell hard, directly on the Handgun Holster, with the rear sight of my pistol digging into a barricade. The concealment holster was strong enough that it ripped my jeans and flipped me over as I fell without breaking.

FObus haters are Just like Wolf Haters, they cannot be reasoned with or dissuaded. They feel if you didn’t spend as much money as possible or at least much as they did, then you are inferior as a human being. It’s your money, spend it however you like.

Eotech

Has anybody been able to mount the newer Eotech 517 or 557 over the bulky M4 handguard (like on the Colt 6920) and be able to fit a 3X magnifier and BUIS too? I want to be able to swing a 3x magnifier to the side and be able to use my ARMS low profile BUIS. It seems like now that the new Eotech 517 is designed to sit over that bulky M4 handguard, I ought to be able to buy a swing-to-the-side mount that also allows me to use my low profile BUIS too.

AR-15 Magazines

I was in the CProducts sight ordering the 30 round stainless AR-15 mags when I saw the big question: "Black follower" or "Orange follower" ? Geees…decisions, decisions. I want the CProducts improved follower. Is that the orange one?

I couldn’t find any info on their AR-15 Magazines (maybe it’s there but I just didn’t look in the right place?) I called them but the phone rings and rings and there was no answer. No biggie considering it’s the dawn of the Obama-ju-mama era, and they must be EXCEEDINGLY BUSY!

Also, would the 30 round stainless CProducts mag parts interchange with my old Colt ar-15 aluminum magazines (with black follower) in the event of a SHTF emergency?

Leather Holsters

Go to your local auto parts store and purchase a bottle of Lexol leather conditioner (16 oz. ~ $10). I’ve used this for years on everything from car seat leather, baseball gloves, leather belts, leather jackets, shoes and yes leather holsters. It really works magic on leather, making the leather feel broken-in and gun holsters.

O NOT use anything on your holster unless it’s recommended by the maker otherwise you’ll wind up with a useless piece of leather. Wrap the unloaded gun in a plastic baggie or wax paper (wax side out) and leave it overnight, if still tight leave it in for another 4-6 hours. You can also just sit in front of the TV and just draw your weapon in/out till it loosens up. Just make absolutely sur that the gun is unloaded and keep the ammo/mag in another room if other folks/kids are around.

He’s an instructor at Magpul Dynamics.

I doubt he would say he has any claim to fame, just a guy with some skills that likes to teach them to people and happens to be very good at it.

Bersa 380 magazine

I have a Bersa 380 magazine that was engraved and given to me on my 16th birthday. Well it sat there for several years, the only action it seeing is a wipe down with oil every now and then. I finally shot it yesterday.

I must say I was very displeased with it. My groupings were terrible, and all to the right. Not to mention I used the same grip method I use for my 1911 and it would cause the slide lock to lock open after every shot.

I am thinking about removing the magazine safety. I think this would help alot with my groupings. I am also thinking about just putting it back in the safe and let it be.

All in all however I do like the design, minus the magazine safety. I am however going to go back to my Bersa 380 magazines because I am very surgical with them, not to mention I messed around with this girl who I just found out has a psycho boyfriend, so I want all the caliber I can get a the moment. I just think it would take me way to much time getting use to the trigger of the BHP to be worth it.

Glock 36 magazines

own a G20, 21, 22, & 23, developed the Glock 36 magazines, and have a huge amount of experience with Glocks and I doubt that he’d need any of those because:

1st - He doesn’t need and may not want a ported barrel because the soot from firing it blackens his front sight with one.

2nd - Dual recoil springs in a G35 are both un-necessary and unwise as they upset the slide timing.

3rd - He already has extended controls because the Glock 36 magazine comes stock with a 3.5# connector, an extended Slide Stop Lever, and an extended Magazine Catch.

What he needs is mags and ammo and if he doesn’t have them yet, a good set of night sights. I recommend TruGlo TFOs. They are a bit spendy at $100/set but worth every penny.

BTW: THIS is a truly ‘Tricked Out Glock’. It cost too much but for a 1st ever G20/21L, its worth every penny to me.

Para ordnance p14 magazines

I waited weeks for this gun to come in. I even ordered an extra 50 dollar mag right off the bat. It finally arrives and I do a good fluff and buff and head off to the range with 300 rounds of various .Para ordnance p14 magazines and FMJs. This 900+ dollar gun is a total jam-o-matic. I am bummed and pretty pissed. I would expect this performance from a Taurus but not Para ordnance p14 magazine. I almost got the baby eagle .45 instead and right now Im wishing I did. After the first trip out, yes I did strip it down and detail clean it and all that. Next trip out, same thing. Totally unreliable. I am going to call Para customer service tomorrow and see what they say. Until then two thumbs down on this one.

Magpul

went shooting today at Hernando Sportsman in Brooksville, FL. Chris Costa who runs the training division from MagPul was in the lane next to me. He had a couple of tricked out SBR’s one MagPul lower, the other on a KAC platform, and .308 with a can. His kids were with him and he was teaching them to shoot. They looked like they were about 10 and had no problem hitting a 12"x14" steel plate at 100 yrds.

Shoulder Holster

In order to best assist our nation’s military personnel, Galco offers two-for-one pricing on every Holsters for Heroes™ donation. Each time a customer donates a Vertical Shoulder Holster System, in tan for the M9 (Beretta 92FS), Galco will ship two Blackhawk Holsters for the same cost as a single regularly priced Handgun Holsters. The donor’s name and contact information will be passed on to the recipients of both holsters, unless the donor elects to remain anonymous. Please note that donations to this program are not tax-deductible

The IWB from cowboy holsters has been my favored way to carry a G19 and G30 for several years. They are little thick and chunky, but are a very solid, durable design. If money’s no object, Matt DelFatti’s IWBs (delfatti.com) are awesome.

CZ 75 magazines

A friend bought two boxes of WWB 9mm FMJ for me since I was broke and we went to the range. The CZ 75 magazines didn’t hiccup once. His PA-63 (9mm Makarov) was… interesting. The recoil drives the thing right into the web of your hand. Shoot it often enough and I can see some chafing occurring.

As for accuracy, I seemed to consistently hit about six inches low and to the left at 15 yards, though occasionally I was spot on. I think most of that was me and not the pistol though; my groupings were more like shotgun patterns. I am NOT at all in practice with handguns of any category. Fortunately, I’ve always been able to hit what I aim for (even drew my dad’s .357 revolver, cocked it, and put a round through a hog’s head at ten yards all in one motion. Without aiming.), and when I begin ranger training we’re going to spend a lot of time at the range with our handguns.

Overall, I’m pleased with my CZ 75 magazine. My only complaint is that the beavertail pattern on the plastic grip plates chafes my hand; I either need to toughen up my hands or get hard rubber grip plates. I don’t like the Hogue wrap-around grip.
